Keep Yourselves  in the Love  of God

The short book  of Jude  describes  all sorts  of evil people  who join  a Christian congregation  only for the purpose  of polluting  its pure doctrines.     They have no shame  —  and boldly try pushing  their evil,  worldly doctrines  on the church.     So,  Jude, verses 20-21 tells us,

But you,  beloved,  building yourselves up  on your most holy faith,  praying  in the Holy Spirit,  keep yourselves  in the love  of God,  waiting anxiously  for the mercy  of our Lord Jesus Christ  to eternal life.

We are not  to allow ourselves  to be swayed  by evil doctrines  that deny salvation  through faith  in Christ Jesus alone  —  in accord  with God’s word.     Nor are we  to cave in  to any sort  of liberalism  that twists  the eternal word  of God.

As God’s  “beloved”  children,  we are  to build ourselves up  “on your most holy faith”.     That true  “faith”  is found  in all  of the Bible,  so we diligently study it.     If we hear anything contrary  to God’s word,  we need  to realize  that we are being forewarned  that we are hearing  a fallacy.     All people  who push  any such  false teachings  are trying  to deceive us  with flawed,  man-made ideas.

Recognizing  such false teachings,  we need  to be  “praying  in the Holy Spirit”  and  keep yourselves  in the love  of God”.     If we imagine  that it is okay  to accept false doctrines,  we are separating ourselves  from  “the love  of God”  because we are disregarding  the truths expressed  throughout  the Bible.    Who are we  to imagine  that God’s word  is out dated,  not politically correct,  judgmental,  not relevant,  or anything  of that sort?

As we believe  and honor  God’s word,  we will be keeping ourselves  “in the love  of God”  and say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for revealing  Your whole work  of eternal salvation  in the Bible.”

Love,
Margaret
