Your Thoughts  Toward Us

We tend  to go through times  when we feel  that God  has forgotten us.     But,  as we patiently wait  for Him  and trust  in the truth  of His eternal love,  we see  that He lovingly  brings us out  of our trials  and temptations.     It is God  who brings us relief  in all our troubles  —  makes us happy again  —  and makes us joyfully wonder  at His power  to save us  in any  and every situation.

That is the kind of stuff  King David was talking about  when he wrote in Psalm 40:5,

Many,  O LORD  my God,  are the wonders  which You have done,
And Your thoughts  toward us;
There is none  to compare  with You.
If I would declare  and speak  of them,
They would be  too numerous  to count.

David is astonished  at God’s loving power  and all the wonders done  in his behalf.     That is why he declared  in Psalm 40:4,

How blessed  is the man  who has made  the LORD  his trust,
And has not turned  to the proud,  nor to those  who lapse  into falsehood.

Our trust  and faith  in the LORD  lead us  to not turn  “to the proud,  nor to those  who lapse  into falsehood”.     It’s useless  to trust in  “proud” people or any “who lapse  into falsehood”.     They don’t have any real power.     They just puff themselves up  to appear daunting  and fearsome.     They do that to intimidate others  into following them,  instead  of God.

We need  to trust  our Creator and Redeemer,  who has promised,

I will never desert you,  nor will I ever forsake you.       Hebrews 13:5

God’s  “thoughts  toward us”  are so constant  and loving.     God never forgets us  and knows our every thought  and feeling.     David simply had  to tell God,  “There is none  to compare  with You.”     How true.     There is absolutely nothing that can honestly be compared  to God.     We can rest  in His almighty love  and truth.

In the wonderment  of God’s faithful love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Thank You  for blessing us with Your faithful love.”

Love,
Margaret
