Say  Continually

We need grateful hearts  because  we are recipients  of eternal things  that are totally impossible  to gain  with our own puny efforts.     No matter how “good”  and  “wonderful”  we imagine  we are  in our sinful,  earthly ways,  we are sinners  —  not even close  to deserving  eternal life.

If we honestly desire  eternal life  in heaven,  we must acknowledge  that  faith  in Jesus Christ  is the one and only way  to be forgiven  of all our sins  and to actually  be made holy  for eternal life.     We need  to realize  that our salvation  can never come  from our own efforts  —  no matter how hard  we try  to be good.     No one  can ever truthfully rejoice  over their earthly  “goodness”,  imagining they are really good enough  to have earned eternal life.     Deep down  in our hearts  we know  that we sin.

So,  when we realize  the immense gift  of God’s forgiving love  and salvation  in Christ Jesus,  we know  we have something very special  —  something  that humbles us  —  something that makes us  eternally grateful.     The gift  of eternal life  is only for those  who believe  that Jesus Christ  has earned  this gift  for us.     We can’t earn anything.     But Jesus  is willing  to give us  this gift  —  just for believing  and trusting  in Him  alone.

Truly believing,  we say  with King David  in Psalm 40:16,

Let all  who seek You  rejoice  and be glad  in You;
Let those  who love  Your salvation  say continually,
“The LORD  be magnified!”

Truly,  we need  to daily  “seek”  our LORD  and Savior  in His word  —  we need  to  “rejoice  and be glad”  in His love  —  we need  to say continually,  ‘The LORD  be magnified!'”     Our salvation  belongs  to Him.

Reverently glad,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for wanting  to save us.”

Love,
Margaret
