Learn From Me…….  And  You Will  Find Rest

Most people find  that the older they get,  the more worried  and doubtful  they get.     Our early youth  was free  from worry  and doubt.     So,  what has changed?     True,  we now have the responsibility  of making  a living.     But,  we also imagine ourselves more  “wise  and intelligent”  than little children.

Jesus wants us  to get back  to where we were.     In Matthew 11:25  Jesus prayed  in front  of the unbelieving Jews,

I praise You,  Father,  Lord of heaven  and earth,  that You have hidden these things  from the wise  and intelligent  and have revealed them  to infants.

Those  who imagined  that they were  “wise  and intelligent”  were the unbelievers,  who unbelievingly mocked Jesus.

To those  who had hearts  that yearned  for the LORD  as their Creator Redeemer,  Jesus tenderly said  in Matthew 11:28-30,

Come  to Me,  all who are weary  and heavy-laden,  and I will give you rest.     Take My yoke  upon you  and learn  from Me,  for I am gentle  and humble  in heart,  and you will find rest  for your souls.     For My yoke  is easy  and My burden  is light.

Believers  are God’s children  —  “infants”.     God cares  for us  as children.     He is not the one burdening us  with all sorts  of man-made rules,  regulations,  traditions,  and burdens  of man-made ideas  of penance.

Jesus said,  “Learn from Me…….   and you will find rest.”     It is God’s word  in the Bible  that we need  to pay attention to  and learn from  —  not the rules  and traditions  laid down  by mere men  through the ages.     Straight  from the mouth  of God  in Scripture  we learn  that we are cared for  and are totally forgiven  every time we trustingly  ask Jesus  to forgive us.

Believing  as “infants”,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for forgiving us  and caring  for us.”

Love,
Margaret
