God  Has Chosen  the Weak

Contrary  to popular opinion,  we are all weak.     Many boast  of their strength  —  especially in sports,  their assumed intelligence,  or in their ability  to make money.     But,  not one  of us  can live  without the breath  God gives us.     Not one  can excel  in sports,  unless God  gifts the ability.     Not one  can claim intelligence  to be of their own making,  because God  can take that away  in a moment,  like He did  with King Nebuchadnezzar  in Daniel 4.     And,  it is God  who blesses everyone  with earthly things.

But,  we don’t have to feel badly  about our weaknesses.     1 Corinthians 1:27  points out,

God has chosen  the foolish things  of the world  to shame  the wise,  and God has chosen  the weak things  of the world  to shame the things  which are strong.

That agrees  with Psalm 8:2,

From the mouth  of infants  and nursing babes  You have established strength
Because of Your adversaries,
To make the enemy  and the revengeful cease.

God chooses  and displays  “infants  and nursing babes”  as an example  of the trust  and faith  that leads  to eternal salvation.     In their helplessness,  they have real strength  in God’s eyes.

So,  what are we to think  about a verse  like Psalm 27:14?

Wait  for the LORD;
Be strong  and let your heart  take courage;
Yes,  wait  for the LORD.

This is telling us to be  “strong”  and courageous  when we are weak.     How can we?     Psalm 28:7  explains how,

The LORD  is my strength  and my shield;
My heart trusts  in Him,  and I am helped;
Therefore  my heart exults,
And with my song  I shall thank Him.

We let God show His  “strength” as we “trust”  in Him.     That’s when we’re thankfully “helped”.     Trusting God  glorifies God’s  “strength”  and makes us strong  in God’s eyes.

With joyful hearts,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You for being our strength  and shield.”

Love,
Margaret
