His Soul  Is Not Right  Within Him

Habakkuk 2:4  wants us  to be fully aware  of what might be  in our heart  —  and what we think  we see  in the hearts  of others.     Habakkuk says,

Behold,  as for the proud one,
His soul  is not right  within him;
But the righteous  will live  by his faith.

Nobody  can be a better person  in God’s eyes  by proudly imagining  they are better  than those  around them.     Their pride makes them hate others  with an unreasonable hatred.     It leads  to lies,  deceptions,  arrogance,  hostility,  aggression,  intimidations,  and treating others shamefully.     They despise  and tear others down  because they want  to be on top.

God’s word  has so many warnings  about sinful pride.     One warning is  in Proverbs 29:23,

A man’s pride  will bring him low,
But a humble spirit  will obtain honor.

The scariest part is  in 1 John 2:16,

For all  that is in the world,  the lust  of the flesh  and the lust  of the eyes  and the boastful pride  of life,  is not  from the Father,  but is from the world.

God is definitely not  making us have  “the boastful pride  of life”.     All such worldly things  are Satan’s influence  in our lives.     That should make us desperate  to knock off  our pride  and pray  for God’s help  in having “a humble spirit”.     We need  to replace  pride  with a heart  that desires  to live  as a worthy child  of God Almighty.     So,  Colossians 1:10  asks us to,

…walk  in a manner worthy  of the Lord,  to please Him  in all respects,  bearing fruit  in every good work  and increasing  in the knowledge  of God.

As God’s beloved children,  we should desire  to live  in the same kind  of love  that He has loved us with.

Ever glad  that God wants us  to be His dear children,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  let Your love fill  and strongly guide  our lives.”

Love,
Margaret
