You Know  the Way  Where I Am Going

Most all people  know the feeling of being lost  —  whether it be in trying  to reach a particular place,  or not knowing how to solve a math problem,  or how to resolve  a computer problem.   : )     Sometimes when a person  gives us directions,  we don’t even understand  the directions,  and remain lost.

When Jesus  was giving directions  to His disciples  shortly before  He was crucified,  He told them  to believe  in Him,  and that He would be  preparing a place  for them  in heaven.     Then John 14:4-6  says,

[Jesus said]   “And you know the way  where I am going.

Thomas said  to Him,  “Lord,  we do not know  where You are going,  how do we know the way?”

Jesus said  to him,  “I am the way,  and the truth,  and the life;  no one comes  to the Father  but through Me.”

Jesus is saying  that He alone  is the one and only “way”  to heaven.     No amount  of good works  can earn our “way”  into heaven.     There are no earthly rituals,  traditions,  customs,  practices,  exercises,  wearing apparel,  foods,  drinks,  beliefs,  or religion  that can lead  to heaven.

If we’re serious  about wanting  to be  in the truth  for the sake of righteousness  and of our Creator,  we need  to accept Jesus  as  “the way”“the truth”,  and  “the life”.     1 John 5:12 tells us,

Whoever  has the Son  has life;  whoever does not  have the Son  of God  does not  have life.

That’s the long  and short  of it.     We have  “the Son” when we “believe”  that Jesus’ life,  death,  and resurrection  have fully paid  for all our sins.     Jesus emphasized this  in John 5:24,

Truly,  truly,  I say  to you,  he who hears  My word,  and believes Him  who sent Me,  has eternal life,  and does not come  into judgment,  but has passed  out of death  into life.

As we “believe”  the proven,  eternal Word of God,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for being  the way,  truth,  and life  for us.”

Margaret
