Some  Will Depart  from the Faith

Worldwide  we see all sorts  of cults,  idolatry,  and false doctrines  of every sort.     The internet  is jam-packed  with it.     False preachers  have been active  since the beginning,  but we have an extra warning  that needs extra attention  in these days  that the Bible calls  the  “latter times”.     1 Timothy 4:1-2  tells us,

Now  the Spirit  expressly says  that in latter times  some will depart  from the faith,  giving heed  to deceiving spirits  and doctrines  of demons,  speaking lies  in hypocrisy,  having their own conscience seared  with a hot iron.

Since  the Bible describes  the “latter times”  as everything  that happens  after Christ’s resurrection,  we can know  that we are living  in the  “latter times”.     It is very important  that we be aware  of anyone  who departs  “from the faith”.      “The faith” we need  to have  and hold onto  is in the Bible.     If we hear  or read  anything  that does not match up  with what the Bible actually teaches,  we can know  that it is  the false doctrine  of someone  who has fallen  “from the faith”.

The only way  we can know  what the Bible teaches  is to study the Bible every day.     We must do that  so we won’t  be fooled  into departing  “from the faith”.     We have  to know  when a preacher  is giving heed  “to deceiving spirits  and doctrines  of demons”.     We must  be able  to recognize when someone is  “speaking lies  in hypocrisy”.     We have to be able  to see this  even when we read things  on the internet.

Because we have been warned,  let us get down-right serious  about studying God’s word  and knowing  what God  is teaching us  in His word.     Our own eternal life  —  and the eternal life  of everyone  we witness to  —  depends  on our knowing the truth  and living it.

Glad  to have God’s word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for leading us  in the true faith.”

Love,
Margaret
