His Understanding  Is Inscrutable

Since the beginning,  mankind looks  at all the wonders  around him  and cannot figure out  how it was all created.     Thousands  of years later,  people can figure out  that the sun,  moon,  and stars  are a dependable way  of keeping track  of time.     But,  what sort of power  keeps all this  in motion  from the beginning?     How did  that power come  to be?

It’s all unfathomable.     It cannot be thoroughly searched out  or investigated.

Mankind cannot fathom  the immensity  of the greatness  of our Creator’s power.     We see it  and feel it  —  but cannot explain  how it all  can be.     Search,  experiment,  and theorize  as we might,  we’ll not find out.     In a number  of places,  God’s word tells us things like,

Do you not know?     Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God,  the LORD,  the Creator  of the ends  of the earth
Does not become weary  or tired.
His understanding  is inscrutable.       Isaiah 40:28

Who does great things,  unfathomable,
And wondrous works  without number      Job 9:10

Great  is the LORD,  and highly  to be praised,
And His greatness  is unsearchable.       Psalm 145:3

Realizing  that God’s  “understanding  is inscrutable”,   we humbly listen  to Jesus  in Matthew 18:3-6,

Truly  I says  to you,  unless you  are converted  and become like children,  you will not enter  the kingdom  of heaven.     Whoever  then humbles himself  as this child,  he is the greatest  in the kingdom  of heaven.     And whoever receives  one such child  in My name  receives Me;  but whoever causes one  of these little ones  who believe  in Me  to stumble,  it would be better  for him  to have a heavy millstone  hung  around his neck,  and to be drowned  in the depth  of the sea.

Let us humbly accept  God our Savior  for who He is,  realizing that we cannot explain  His power,  wisdom,  or eternal love.

In awe,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank you  for making things simple  for us.”

Love,
Margaret
