He Who Dwells  in the Shelter  of the Most High

Many people imagine  that they can live  as loosely  and wantonly  as they please,  and when they have troubles,  God will answer them  —  and then  they will  get on  with life.     But,  God wants more  from us  than a mere  passing thought.     God wants us  to draw near  to Him  in His word,  in truth,  in trust,  in love,  and in prayer.     The psalmist knew this  when he wrote  in Psalm 91:1-3,

He who dwells  in the shelter  of the Most High
Will abide  in the shadow  of the Almighty.
I will say  to the LORD,  “My refuge  and my fortress,
My God,  in whom  I trust!”
For it is He  who delivers you  from the snare  of the trapper
And from the deadly pestilence.

When one  dwells  in the shelter  of the Most High”  and abides  “in the shadow  of the Almighty”,  they are constantly learning  and meditating  on God’s word  to mankind.     They are entrusting  their whole lives  in the eternal word  that God has given us  in the Bible.     They don’t depend  on anything  in this world.

God has made  His children  many promises  of salvation.     Those promises are  “the shelter  of the Most High”.     God has promised  to carry us  through this life  under His protective care  —  His “shelter”  —  His faithfulness  —  His almighty power.

That is why  we acknowledge  the LORD  as our  “refuge”“fortress”,  and “God”.     There is no other,  so we can confidently  “trust”  in Him  and His truths.     If we want God  to be near  to us,  we need  to draw near  to Him.     He is waiting patiently.

Glad  for God’s shelter,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for delivering us  in Christ Jesus!”

Love,
Margaret
