Plans Formed  Long Ago,  With Perfect Faithfulness

We all make plans  for our future  —  whether they are plans  for the day  or the distant future.     We have hopes  and dreams  for what could be  in our lives.     Much  of the time  it simply  does not turn out  the way  we planned.     All sorts  of factors  can easily change.     We might even  have changed our mind  midstream.     We might  see a different opportunity  and think  that is better.     Since we don’t know  the future,  it is often necessary  to change our plans.

That’s why  it is so hard  for us  to imagine  how the LORD  can be so faithful  in absolutely  every single one  of His plans.     God’s plans  have been laid out  for us  in prophecies  —  over thousands  of years.     Throughout  the Old Testament  God prophesied  all sorts of details  about the coming Savior  —  so we could be  absolutely sure  just who  that Savior was.     The New Testament contains prophecies  about the end times  —  so we can be  assuredly aware  of God’s control  during perilous times  in our days.

God can authoritatively  make these prophecies  because He alone knows  the future  —  as well as the past.     God is in control  of the future  —  at all times.     Isaiah 25:1  says  in praise,

O LORD,  You are  my God;
I will exalt You,  I will give thanks  to Your name;
For You have  worked wonders,
Plans formed  long ago,  with perfect  faithfulness.

Just what are  some  of God’s  “plans  formed long ago,  with perfect faithfulness”?     The Bible is filled  with many short-term prophesies  telling about the winning  of battles,  the downfall  of certain nations,  etc.     The prophecies regarding  the Savior,  Jesus Christ,  were long-term prophecies.     In the Garden of Eden,  we are told of Satan’s ultimate defeat.     Moses made prophecies  about Jesus  being a prophet  everyone should listen to.     Isaiah  and other prophets  gave many intimate details  about Jesus’ life,  suffering,  death,  and resurrection

God’s  “plans  formed  long ago”  are well worth studying  because they will solidify  our faith  —  assuring us  of the honest-to-goodness  truth  for these trying times.

In glad assurance,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your almighty,  saving love.”

Love,
Margaret
