To Him  Who Lacks Might  He Increases Power

Christianity faces  all sorts  of sneaky,  defiant,  attacking hatred  from unbelievers.     In spite of that,  we need  to remember  that the LORD is  in control.     In describing the tribulations  of the end days,  Jesus tells us  in Mark 13:20,

Unless the Lord  had shortened  those days,  no life  would have been saved;  but for the sake  of the elect,  whom  He chose,  He shortened  the days.

We can trust  that the LORD  is with us  through every trial,  and He has promised  to keep us safe.     When we are concerned  about the final outcome  of things,  we remember  Isaiah 40:28-31,

Do you not know?     Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God,  the LORD,  the Creator  of the ends  of the earth
Does not become weary  or tired.
His understanding  is inscrutable.

He gives strength  to the weary,
And  to him  who lacks might  He increases power.

Though youths  grow weary  and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,

Yet those  who wait  for the LORD
Will gain  new strength;
They will mount up  with wings  like eagles,
They will run  and not get tired,
They will walk  and not become weary.

When we think  only of our own weaknesses,  we get tired.     But,  when Isaiah  faced many challenges,  he trusted  in God’s love,  and remembered what happened to him  in Isaiah 8:11,

For thus  the LORD spoke  to me  with mighty power  and instructed me  not  to walk  in the way  of this people.

All  of God’s word  has also “instructed”  us  not to walk  in the ways  of this world.     Isaiah wants us  to know  that as we  “wait  for the LORD”,  He will surely strengthen us.

Remembering God’s eternal power  to carry us  through this life,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD, thank You  for tenderly caring  for us  in our trials.”

Love,
Margaret
