The Grass Withers

Our words wither.     We make promises  we can’t keep.    We imagine something  to be true  and then find out  it is not.     Many boast  of their strength  and later discover  that like everyone else,  they get old  and lose strength.     The grass withers.

The things  of this world  get old and fade away,  but Isaiah 40:8  presents a truth,

The grass withers,  the flower fades,
But the word  of our God  stands forever.

It is okay  that we get old  in this world  and fade away.     No matter what happens  in this world,  we are assured  that  “the word  of our God  stands forever”.     That’s a wonderful truth,  because 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says,

All Scripture  is inspired  by God  and profitable  for teaching,  for reproof,  for correction,  for training  in righteousness;  so that the man  of God  may be adequate,  equipped  for every good work.

Because God’s word  “stands forever”,  it is just  as valid today  as it was thousands  of years ago.     God’s word  will never lose its validity  —  never wither  —  never fade away.

There are false preachers,  who claim  that there are many errors  in God’s word.     In other words,  they are claiming  that God Almighty  is a liar  —  and unable  to make His word  stand forever.     They then have  the audacity  to make pretentious  “corrections”  to God’s word,  but their  “corrections”  are contradictory.     All their writings  prove themselves  to be false.

We can see that  “the word  of our God  stands forever”,  as we read the Old Testament prophecies  of the Savior  —  and then read the New Testament fulfillments  of those prophecies.     God’s eternal word  describes our sinful nature,  and assures us  in 1 John 5:13,

These things  I have written  to you  who believe  in the name  of the Son  of God,  so that you may know  that you have eternal life.

As our earthly life fades,  we know  we have  “eternal life”,  and say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  You alone  are the giver  of life  through faith  in Christ Jesus.”

Love,
Margaret
