I Will  Carry You

Our sins  can wear us down  to a frazzle.     We know our guilt,  but are totally helpless  to do anything about it.     There isn’t a single thing  we can do  to change  our past.     Talk about a burden!     We’re stuck.

And God Almighty  knows all about it.

But,  He does not beat down  such burdened sinners.     Israel  was just that  in Isaiah’s day.     They had been stupidly worshiping  senseless idols.     And,  they did not think  they could return  to the LORD.     But…….  God spoke  to them  in Isaiah 46:3-4,

Listen  to Me,  O house  of Jacob,
And all the remnant  of the house  of Israel,
You  who have been borne  by Me  from birth
And have been carried  from the womb;
Even  to your old age  I will be the same,
And even  to your graying years  I will bear you!
I have done it,  and I will carry you;
And I will bear you  and I will deliver you.

This is pure love  —  and it’s God’s sure love  for each  of us,  in Christ Jesus.     God has been taking care  of us  “from birth”.     From the moment  we were taken  “from the womb”  and “even  to your old age”,  God’s love has been  faithfully caring  about us.     True  —  we have made ourselves filthy  with every kind  of sin  —  but nevertheless  —  God’s love  is faithful,  and He faithfully promises,  “I will carry you.”

No matter what sort  of trouble  we’re entangled with,  God says  I will bear you  and I will deliver you.”     We have hope  and the assurance  that we are  still beloved.     God knows  about absolutely everything  that has tripped us up  —  and He greatly desires to  “deliver” us  and “carry” us  through this life.

So,  let us  let Him  carry our burdens.     We need  the relief.     With the joy  of still  — and always  —  being  God’s beloved,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your faithful love  in Christ Jesus.”

Love,
Margaret
