Like a Shepherd  He Will  Tend His Flock

In our troubling times,  we definitely need  a good,  trustworthy leader.     God’s word tells  about that leader  when it talks  about the coming  of our Savior,  Jesus Christ,  in Isaiah 40:10-11,

Behold,  the Lord GOD  will come  with might,
With His arm ruling  for Him.
Behold,  His reward  is  with Him
And His recompense  before Him.

Like a shepherd  He will tend  His flock,
In His arm  He will gather  the lambs
And carry them  in His bosom;
He will gently lead  the nursing ewes.

As God comforted  Israel  about the coming Savior,  He wishes  to comfort us  by leading us  to trust  in the Good Shepherd.     Only a few noticed  how  “the Lord GOD”  came  “with might”  on the night the Savior  was born  in a stable.     Only a few notice  that  “His reward  is with Him  and His recompense before Him.”

They have no clue  about how God  rewards His children  with peace  in their hearts  and daily cares  for them.     The world cannot see  that Jesus,  “like a shepherd”,  tends  “His flock”.     They are blind  to Jesus carrying us  “in His bosom”  and “gently” leading us  through this sinful world.

Although the world  does not recognize  God’s care  for His children,  we know  the comfort He gives  during our trials  and tribulations.     There is a special joy  in knowing Jesus said  in John 10:14,

I am the good shepherd,  and I know  My own  and My own  know Me.

Knowing Jesus,  we willingly accept  His invitation  in Matthew 11:29,

Take My yoke  upon you  and learn  from Me,  for I am gentle  and humble  in heart,  and you will find rest  for your souls.

Learning from  our Lord,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  it is wonderful  being assured  that we are  Your lambs.”

Love,
Margaret
