He Understands  and Knows Me

It certainly  is nice  to have someone  who honestly  “understands  and knows me”.     Truly knowing  and understanding  a person  makes for a much better relationship.     With such a relationship,  one can share much more  than they would ever care  to share  with a casual acquaintance,  a stranger,  or anyone  who dislikes them.

That holds true  with our relationship  with God.

God bluntly tells us  in Jeremiah 9:23-24,

Let not a wise man boast  of his wisdom,  and let not the mighty man boast  of his might,  let not a rich man boast  of his riches;  but let him who boasts boast  of this,  that he understands  and knows Me,  that I am the LORD  who exercises  lovingkindness,  justice  and righteousness  on earth;  for I delight  in these things.

We see people  boasting  in all sorts  of things   in this life.     They boldly claim  to be smarter,  mightier,  and richer  than others.     They are oblivious  to the fact  that the LORD  is smarter,  mightier,  and richer  than anything they can even begin  to imagine.     After all,  God made all things,  and everything belongs  to Him alone  —  even us.     People  who boast about themselves  don’t really know God.

Their boasting  puts a wedge  between themselves  and God,  because they are not acknowledging the truth  that God gave them intelligence,  strength,  and riches.     As God gave  —  He can also take away.

If we really want something  to boast about,  we need  to so abide  in God’s words  that He can open up  our understanding  and let us come  to know Him.     Knowing  and understanding  the LORD’s  “lovingkindness,  justice  and righteousness”  through all our earthly trials  is what delights  our Creator and Redeemer.     That is knowing and understanding the truth.

So glad  to know God’s love  in Christ,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for condescending  to love us  and save us  through faith  in Christ Jesus.”

Love,
Margaret
