Take Him  and Look After Him

When God’s children share  God’s word,  they can become hated,  as many  of the Lord’s preachers  have been hated,  tortured,  and killed.     We even  hear about that  in the news.     Much of it  doesn’t make the news.     In the fear  of being hated,  rejected,  and abused,  many Christians are afraid  to speak  about their faith.     But,  we need  to realize  that God is wondrously able  to care  for us  —  and no matter what happens,  we are  in the LORD’s loving care.

Around 586 B.C.,  when Judah was deep  into all sorts  of sins,  Jeremiah the prophet  spoke God’s words  of warning  and impending judgment  on them.     In their hatred,  the liberal religious leaders  often abused Jeremiah,  putting him  in a wet, muddy well  to sink in  and die  —  imprisoning him,  etc.

As a punishment,  God had the Chaldeans  conquer Judah  and haul many off  to Babylon.     The Babylonian king  then gave land  to the poorest people  and let them stay  in Judah.     He also  gave orders  regarding Jeremiah  in Jeremiah 39:12,

Take him  and look after him,  and do nothing harmful  to him,  but rather deal  with him  just as he tells you.

Almighty God gave  this heathen Babylonian king  the desire  and ability  to save Jeremiah.     In any  seemingly impossible situation,  God knows how  to have His will done.     His ways  are mysterious  and most awesome.     Knowing this,  we look  to the LORD  in our times  of need  and give thanks  for His loving care  in doing  what is best  for us.

In faith  we can declare,

Truly,  O God  of Israel,  our Savior,
You work  in mysterious ways.       Isaiah 45:15

Let them give thanks  to the LORD  for His lovingkindness,
And for His wonders  to the sons  of men!       Psalm 107:8

In our seemingly impossible times,  we look  to the LORD  and say,  “Hallelujah!     Thank You  for Your loving care.”

Love,
Margaret
