Many Troubles  and Distresses

Trouble,  trouble,  trouble.     All  of humanity  faces  “many troubles  and distresses”.     The older we get  and think back on all our various “troubles  and distresses”,  we begin  to see  and realize  that God has,  in an awesome,  mysterious way,  certainly led us  through them all  —  and used them  to strengthen us  in the true faith.     The awful,  overwhelming  sorrows  we went through  were actually  blessings in disguise  because  they showed us  God’s faithful love  and care  for us.

God is able  to allow intense suffering  that we see  as hurtful  to actually be  His way  of protecting us  from something  that would surely be worse  in the end.     We cannot see  or understand things  the way  that our loving,  heavenly Father sees  and totally understands them  —  but we can trust His faithful love.

Knowing and trusting  God’s ability  to shepherd us,  we can say  with the old psalmist  in Psalm 71:20,

You  who have shown me  many troubles  and distresses
Will revive me again,
And will bring me up again  from the depths  of the earth.

God shows us  “many troubles”  in this life  —  and revives us again  to meet new challenges.     Not only that  —  but because we trust  in God our Savior,  He will resurrect us  unto eternal life.     He won’t resurrect us  because we’re so great  and good   —  but because  in our weaknesses,  we trust  our Lord Jesus  with a childlike faith.

As the angel said  to Mary  in Luke 1:37,

For nothing  will be impossible  with God.

Knowing God’s salvation  through Christ,  His eternal love,  and almighty power,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your faithful,  patient guidance  and strength.”

Love,
Margaret
