The Lord Knows

In all our afflictions,  sometimes Christians wonder  if the Lord  is paying attention  to our troubles.     On the other hand,  some  who make out  like they are Christian,  feel the Lord  has no clue  as to what they are doing,  so they feel bold  about making false teachings  to satisfy their egos  and greed.

No matter what  the false Christians claim,  2 Timothy 2:19  assures us,

Nevertheless,  the firm foundation  of God stands,  having this seal,  “The Lord knows  those who are His,”  and,  “Everyone  who names  the name  of the Lord  is to abstain  from wickedness.”

This is an assurance  to all true believers,  and a warning  to all  who love  their own imaginations  more than the Lord.    Because  the Lord knows  those  who are His”,  honest Christians can joyfully rest  in knowing  that the Lord  will continue guiding them  throughout  this perilous life.

And those  who make out  like they are Christian  are warned  “to abstain  from wickedness”.     If they don’t  “abstain  from wickedness”,  they will face  a terrible,  eternal judgment.

As we face  so many evils  in this life,  1 John 3:7  tells us,

Little children,  make sure  no one deceives you;  the one who practices righteousness  is righteous,  just as He is righteous.

Our whole lives  are to be  a reflection  of Christ’s love  in our hearts.     We are looking  for our home  in heaven  —  not any sort  of glory  or riches  on earth.     Therefore,  2 Peter 3:14 teaches,

Therefore,  beloved,  since you look  for these things,  be diligent  to be found  by Him  in peace,  spotless  and blameless.

When we want  to be Christian,  we learn that,  “Everyone  who names  the name  of the Lord  is to abstain  from wickedness.”     In other words,  we have  to be willing  to accept  and live  in all  of God’s truths  —  not just the ideas  we think  will benefit  our sinful natures.

Glad  to glorify God  in His righteousness,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for knowing us  as Your very own.”

Love,
Margaret
