Set Forth  Your Case

People have been debating  over who is  the true God  for thousands  of years.     Atheists claim there is no God.     Agnostics say no one can know what the higher power is.     People of every religion claim their god or gods are in control.     So,  how can anyone actually know the truth?

The LORD God Almighty  has shown us  how we can determine  who the true God is.     When people were turning  to all sorts  of idols,  God challenged them  in Isaiah 45:21,

Declare  and set forth  your case;
Indeed,  let them consult together.
Who has announced this  from  of old?
Who has long since declared it?
Is it not I,  the LORD?
And there is  no other God  besides Me,
A righteous God  and a Savior;
There is none  except Me.

Only  the LORD can make  such a challenge  and claim.     Anyone  who claims  some other god  needs to  “set forth  your case”.     They should  all get together  and gather all the evidence  that their god  is the real god.

The LORD’s evidence  is presented  throughout the Bible  —  Old and New Testaments.     None  of the other proclaimed gods  in this world  have been able  to make a prophecy  come true.     But,  the LORD  has made hundreds  of prophecies  that came true  down to the smallest detail  —  and has the recorded history  of each prophecy and its fulfillment.     Many  of God’s prophecies  were about the Savior  —  His whole life,  suffering,  death,  and resurrection.

In this world  of so many claims,  we should all  check out the validity  of what we believe  is true.     We need  to study the Bible  to see  how it has proven itself  over thousands  of years.     2 Peter 1:19  tells us,

So  we have the prophetic word  made more sure,  to which  you do well  to pay attention  as to a lamp shining  in a dark place,  until the day dawns  and the morning star arises  in your hearts.

“The prophetic word”  was  “made more sure”  by its fulfillment in Christ Jesus.     Our eternal life depends  on our paying  “attention”  to it,  so we may say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  surely  there is no other God  besides You.”

Margaret
