His Kindness  and Tolerance  and Patience

“Kindness”“Tolerance” and “Patience”  are awesome aspects  of God’s love  for us  that we don’t appreciate nearly enough.     In our selfish little worlds  we just complain  about how we wish  we had things better  in this life.

The LORD rightly  and justly  judges all  of us  in the end  for all eternity.     But,  in the meantime,  we can experience  His smaller,  guiding judgments  in our daily lives  —  along with  “His kindness  and tolerance  and patience”  that is there  to lead us  sinful beings  into the knowledge  of His love  and forgiveness  through faith  in Christ Jesus.

Time and again  we tend  to judge  the behavior  of others,  but have a purposely  blind eye  to our own behaviors  that will  surely be judged  by the LORD.     Romans 2:3-5 says,

But do you suppose this,  O man,  when you pass judgment  on those  who practice such things  and do the same yourself,  that you will escape  the judgment  of God?

Or do you think lightly  of the riches  of His kindness  and tolerance  and patience,  not knowing  that the kindness  of God  leads you  to repentance?

But  because  of your stubbornness  and unrepentant heart  you are storing up wrath  for yourself  in the day  of wrath  and revelation  of the righteous judgment  of God.

In His love,  the LORD  has led us sinners  to a knowledge  of His free salvation  through faith  in Jesus.     This free salvation  is for everyone  who puts their faith  in Jesus’ suffering,  death,  and resurrection.     All those  who come  to know salvation through Christ  go through stages  of growing  in faith  —  just as we have.     Even in our faith,  we are all  still sinners.     Therefore,  we need to,  first of all,  examine  our own behavior.     Is our life honestly God pleasing?

Aren’t we appreciative  of God’s  “kindness and tolerance  and patience”  towards us  as we first came  to faith?     We need to show  that same  “kindness and tolerance  and patience”  towards others  who are beginning  to grow  in faith.     If we don’t,  God’s just judgment  will be awaiting us.

In an awe-filled respect  for God’s love  for us sinners,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for stooping down  to care  for each  of us.”

Love,
Margaret
