All the Fullness of Deity

Crucifixion of Christ

All  the Fullness  of Deity

We make ourselves  into fools  when we try  to explain something  nobody knows  anything about.     It ends up  that everybody has different thoughts.     Their thoughts  are based  on their own imaginations  and feelings.    Nobody is able  to adequately prove their theory.

That’s how it is  when people try  to describe  how Jesus  can possibly be  both man  and God.     There is every sort  of “explanation”  and theory  —  but,  the bottom line is  that nobody fully knows anything  because God  has not revealed  the “how”  of this truth  to us.     We just need  to see  and understand  that God’s word,  in many different verses, states that the Savior  is God and man.     One such reference  is Colossians 2:8-10,

See to it  that no one takes you captive  through philosophy  and empty deception,  according to  the tradition  of men,  according to  the elementary principles  of the world,  rather than  according to Christ.     For  in Him  all the fullness  of Deity dwells  in bodily form,  and in Him  you have been made complete,  and He is  the head  over all rule  and authority.

We are to understand  that Jesus is fully God  —  and fully man.     Hebrews 2:17 explains,

Therefore,  He had  to be made  like His brethren  in all things,  so that He might become  a merciful  and faithful high priest  in things pertaining  to God,  to make propitiation  for the sins  of the people.

The full  and perfect atonement  for our sins  had to be  by someone  perfectly holy  —  that “Someone” is Jesus Christ.     Therefore Philippians 2:7  says Jesus,

…emptied Himself,  taking the form  of a bond-servant,  and being made  in the likeness  of men.

We just need  to be glad  that God’s love  for us  is that great.     There is no better love,  so we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus, Your faithful  and loving mercy  saves us.”

Love,
Margaret
