You Shall Not  Follow the Masses  in Doing Evil

After God rescued  the Israelites  from slavery  in Egypt  and gave them the Ten Commandments,  He gave some detailed examples  of what those Ten Commandments included.     Exodus 23:1-2  is a little bit  of what God expects  from His children,

You shall not bear  a false report;  do not join  your hand  with a wicked man  to be a malicious witness.     You shall not  follow the masses  in doing evil,  nor shall you testify  in a dispute  so as to  turn aside  after a multitude  in order  to pervert justice;  nor shall you be partial  to a poor man  in his dispute.

Frankly,  newscasts lately  have been filled  with these very behaviors.     These behaviors  are being seen  within the top people  in the governments  and all the way down  to the common people.     It doesn’t matter  what the exact details are.     “False reports” are “false reports”.     A “malicious witness”  is  “malicious”  in all sorts  of situations.   Following  “the masses  in doing evil”  is also committed  in various situations  with “politically correct” top officials  and common people.     And so,  the innocent suffer greatly.

Many “testify”  “in order to pervert justice”.     And,  many show partiality  “to a poor man”,  who is proven guilty  of wronging someone terribly.     The guilty  “poor man”  defiantly claims innocence,  and the followers  loudly support him/her.     And so,  the innocent suffer greatly.

Supporting evil  is evil  and will be eternally condemned  in the end  on Judgment Day.     In the end,  all God’s children  will faithfully say  with Psalm 116:5,

Gracious  is the LORD,  and righteous;
Yes,  our God  is compassionate.

God forgives  all our sins  because  we put our faith  in Him  —  and He righteously condemns all  who love  their evil ways,  imagining  God doesn’t care  what they do.

Glad  for God’s saving love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your grace  that compassionately supports us  through this life.”

Love,
Margaret
