Take It  to Your Heart

Some things  are very important  in this life  —  and others are  of no serious consequence.     The fact  that I have a number  of decorations  that have a heart shape  is not important.     But,  the fact  that there is only one LORD God  over all things  is of the utmost importance.

When Moses  was teaching  the Israelites  about God,  he said  in Deuteronomy 4:39,

Know therefore today,  and take it to your heart,  that the LORD,  He is God  in heaven above  and on the earth below;  there is no other.

Because  the people  of this world worship so many different gods  —  and because  there are some religious groups  that want people  to lump all their gods together  in a bond  of “fellowship”  —  it is vital  that Christians cling  to the truths  of the one and only true God.     Our eternal life depends  on it.     The LORD God  will never tolerate idolatry  of any sort.

If we imagine  that we can honor  other gods,  right along side  of the LORD,  we are terribly mistaken.     All those who honor  other so-called gods  and myths  will be condemned eternally.     Revelation 21:8  tells us,

But  for the cowardly  and unbelieving  and abominable  and murders  and immoral persons  and sorcerers  and idolaters  and all liars,  their part  will be  in the lake  that burns  with fire  and brimstone,  which is the second death.

An “idolater” is anyone  who has any sort  of god  or gods  besides the LORD our Savior.     Anyone  who makes out like  the LORD our Savior  is anything less  than what the Bible says He is is a “liar”.     So,  when Moses said,  take it to your heart,  that the LORD,  He is God  in heaven above  and on the earth below;  there is no other,”  this is a truth  we must take very seriously  in our hearts.

Seeing how the LORD  has proven His trustworthiness  throughout His word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Take my heart,  it is Thine own,  it shall be Thy royal throne.”

Love,
Margaret
