Whose Trust  Is the LORD

What we “trust”  in  says a lot about us.     Some trust in money,  power,  people.     All that will fail  for sure.     Jeremiah 17:5 says,

Thus says the LORD,
“Cursed is the man  who trusts  in mankind
And makes flesh  his strength,
And whose heart  turns away  from the LORD.”

God condemns those  who trust  “in mankind”  and “flesh”  because they are willfully  and defiantly  denying  the truths  of our being,  our earthly lives,  and eternity.     “Mankind”  is sinful.     Our  “flesh”  will die  and rot  in the grave.     It makes  no sense  to stubbornly  insist  on trusting  such weak  and frail things.

In contrast,  God says  in Jeremiah 17:7,

Blessed  is the man  who trusts  in the LORD
And whose trust  is the LORD.

God’s blessings  for all those  who “trust”  the LORD  are eternal.     There is a great depth  of meaning  in what God said.     God blesses  “the man  who trusts  IN  the LORD”   and  “whose trust  IS  the LORD”.     There is no wiggle room  in that.     The believer’s  “trust”  is absolutely  and totally  directed  to the LORD only.     There is no wavering,  doubting,  or thinking about trusting  in anything  in addition  to trusting  “in the LORD”.

All those  who trust  IN the LORD”  and  “whose trust  IS  the LORD”  will be greatly blessed  in this life  and in eternity.     God’s blessings  strengthen  and carry us  through this life  and into eternity.

So,  every day  we say  with thanksgiving,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for being our strength  and song  now  and through eternity.”

Love,
Margaret
