Seek the LORD  While He May Be Found

So many people  put off  learning  about God’s truths  in the Bible.     They say  they don’t have time  —  but take part  in all sorts of activities.     Many claim the Bible  is too hard  to understand  —  but there are translations  to fit  every reading level and language.     There are even audio Bibles  to help people  with special needs.     Some say  the Bible  is boring  —  but, how can they be bored  with something  they’ve never really spent time with.

All these things take place  while people drift  farther and farther away  from God.     It isn’t long  before they find themselves  falling  into various sinful life styles  —  using God’s name  in vain  —  and  facing a tragedy.     Then they have a great need  for God  in their lives,  but don’t seem  to know how to pray.     Their feelings  of guilt  make them feel so unworthy.

God has words  of caution  and hope  for those  in need.     Isaiah 55:6-9 says,

Seek the LORD  while He may be found;
Call upon Him  while He is near.

Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man  his thoughts;
And let him return  to the LORD,
And He will  have compassion  on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

“For My thoughts  are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways  My ways,”  declares the LORD.

“For as the heavens  are higher  than the earth,
So are My ways higher  than your ways
And My thoughts  than your thoughts.”

Whatever  our sin,  God still wants us  to “seek the LORD  while He may be found”.     We can’t fake  seeking the LORD,  because God cautions,  “Let the wicked forsake  his way  and the unrighteous man  his thoughts.”      Yet,  we don’t have  to be afraid  when we want  to turn  to the LORD  because the sure promise is,  “He will have compassion  on him.”     Our time is limited.

As we humbly turn  to God  for forgiveness  in our mucked up lives,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for abundantly pardoning  all our sins  for Jesus’ sake.”

Love,
Margaret
