We Are the Children of God

We Are  the Children  of God

In this world  there are those  who  “are the sons  of God”  and those who are not  “the sons  of God”.     So,  who is who?     “All who are being led  by the Spirit  of God,  these are sons  of God”.     “The sons  of God”  are those who “have received  a spirit  of adoption  as sons”.

What is all this saying?     When we sinners  hear  God’s word,  as proclaimed  in the gospel  in the Bible,   and realize  that God  has called us  to be His own dear children  through adoption  —  and we receive  God’s word  by believing it  —  we “are being led  by the Spirit  of God”  to know  that God wants  to be our heavenly Father.     Realizing  God’s love  for us,  we gladly want  to be considered  His adopted children,  so we can freely  call out  to Him,  “Abba!   Father!”   —  that is  “Daddy!     My Father!”

So,  Romans 8:14-17 says,

For all  who are being led  by the Spirit  of God,  these are sons  of God.     For you  have not received  a spirit  of slavery  leading  to fear again,  but you have received  a spirit  of adoption  as sons  by which we cry out,  “Abba!     Father!”     The Spirit  Himself  testifies  with our spirit  that we are children  of God,  and if children,  heirs also,  heirs  of God  and fellow heirs  with Christ,  if indeed  we suffer  with Him  so that  we may also be glorified  with Him.

Note  at the end  of this passage  that  “we are children  of God”…….   if indeed  we suffer with Him  so that we may also be glorified  with Him.”     Jesus suffered  in His lifetime  because He stood up strong  with all the truths  of God  as they are stated  in the Bible.     He never caved in  to the twisted words  and made up rules and rituals  of the Pharisees and Sadducees.     For that,  they mocked  and despised Him  —  eventually condemning Him  to death.

Standing strong  in God’s word  means rejecting  all the twisted words  and made up rules  and rituals  of today’s  false preachers.     They will mock  and sneer,  but the  “children of God”  are free  in God’s truths.     Jesus says  in John 8:32,

“You will know the truth,  and the truth  will make you free.”

In joyous freedom,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  it is so good  to know  Your truth.”

Love,
Margaret
