Pondering Them

Pondering Them

We think  a lot  about the things  that are important  and striking  in our lives.     When the shepherds spread  the story  of the angels announcing the birth  of the Savior,  and how they found Jesus  in a manger  —  just as the angels described Him  —   all their listeners  “wondered”  about the event,  but Luke 2:19 says,

Mary treasured  all these things,  pondering them  in her heart.

Mary didn’t  just get on with  the busy activities  of caring  for her newborn.     In her heart  and mind,  she kept on  remembering  every precious detail  of all  that had happened.     She didn’t forget anything,  but repeatedly  “treasured  all these things,  pondering them  in her heart”.      She wanted  to preserve every single happening  and bring them all together  as a whole,  lest she forgot something  over time.

That’s exactly  what 2 Timothy 3:14  asks us  to do,

You,  however,  continue  in the things  you have learned  and become convinced of,  knowing  from whom  you have learned them.

We all need  to keep on  “pondering”  all  of God’s word,  lest we forget  something important  and get off track  in our Christian living.     All that God has done  is important  and fits together  as a whole.     We need  to “ponder” and remember  lest false teachers  mislead us.

Having God’s words  in our hearts,  Acts 20:32  says,

And now  I commend you  to God  and to the word  of His grace,  which is able  to build you up  and to give you  the inheritance  among all those  who are sanctified.

It will be wondrous  when God brings  all things together  in the end,  and we receive “the inheritance  among all those  who are sanctified”.

As we treasure and ponder  God’s works,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  all You do  is marvelous  far beyond description.”

Love,
Margaret
