On Earth  Peace  Among Men

What a world  we live in!     People are  in a turmoil  all around the world  as terrorists invade  their lands.     Peace?     Did someone say  “Peace“?     Yes,  the angels did  as they gloriously announced  Jesus’ birth  in Luke 2:14,

Glory  to God  in the highest,
And on earth  peace  among men  with whom  He is pleased.

There most certainly  is “peace”  on earth  among men  with whom  He is pleased”.     This  “peace”  does not consist  of days  of not being affected  by terrorists,  who will meet their eternal judgment.     Rather,  this  “peace” consists of days  of knowing  God Almighty is  in control  of absolutely all things  —  and that we have  a faithful Savior,  who will lead us  to our heavenly home  in the way  that is best  for us.

We note  that the angels  did not pronounce  “peace”  for absolutely everyone  “on earth”.     Rather  “peace”   —  God’s  “peace”  —  is reserved  for  “men  with whom  He  is pleased”.     God is  “pleased”  with all those  who put their faith  and trust  in Him  —  knowing that whatever happens,  God will work  all things  for our good  in the end.

Jesus says  in John 14:27,

Peace  I leave  with you;  My peace  I give  to you;  not as the world gives  do I give  to you.     Do not let  your heart  be troubled,  nor let it be fearful.

Jesus is talking about the “peace”  of being  totally forgiven  —  the  “peace”  of knowing  for sure  that when we die,  we will immediately  be in heaven  with our Savior  forever.     This is the  “peace”  between us  and God Almighty.

The world can never give us  the  “peace”  that God gives.     The world tries  to work out  its own definition  of goodness  and worthiness.     Jesus makes us  truly good  and worthy  through faith  in Him.     God is  “pleased”  with those  who simply trust  in His almighty power  to make us  truly holy  through faith.     God’s power  brings “peace”  —  real  “peace”.

In  “peace”  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your gift  of a real Savior,  who takes away  all our sins.”

Love,
Margaret
