I Will  Establish  Your Seed Forever

God has ways  of keeping  a promise  that we could  never imagine.     One example is  His promise  to King David  in Psalm 89:3-4,

I have made a covenant  with My chosen;
I have sworn  to David  My servant,
I will establish  your seed  forever
And build up  your throne  to all generations.

God made a “covenant”  with David  —  a strong,  binding promise.     God swore,  I will establish  your seed forever  and build up your throne  to all generations.”     So,  how did God keep  that promise  to David?

David was king of Israel.     How has God built up his  throne  to all generations”?     Who is king  on David’s  ‘throne’  today?      It’s Jesus Christ.     Both Joseph and Mary  were descendants  of King David  —  although Joseph was not  the father  of Jesus.     So,  Jesus is,  humanly speaking,  a descendant  of King David.     When Jesus rose  from the dead,  He was declared King of kings  and Lord of lords.  ( Revelation 17:14 )    Jesus is our King today.     He rules  in our hearts  and shows us the way  to heaven  through faith.

Through  “all generations”  since His resurrection  Jesus has ruled  in the hearts  of all  who believe  in Him.     In His rule  He leads us  to live by faith,  hope,  and love.     Through  “all generations”  more and more people  have let Jesus  be King  in their hearts.     Jesus’ kingdom  keeps growing.

God also promised,  “I will establish  your seed  forever.”    Jesus,  a descendant  of David,  —  from the  “seed”  of David  —  lives  “forever”.     There is no other king  amongst anyone descended  from David’s “seed”  —  just Jesus.     And,  Jesus is established  as King  “forever”.

Because  it is a wonderful blessing  to have Jesus  as our King,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  be established  and built up  in our hearts  as our King forever.”

Love,
Margaret
