A Heart  of Wisdom

Moses was very special  in God’s eyes.     Numbers 12:3  describes Moses,

Now  the man Moses  was very humble,  more than any man  who was  on the face  of the earth.

That’s quite a description.     Few fit it  as people are so prone  to being prideful  —  considering themselves better than others.     Psalm 90 is a prayer  by Moses.     It shows us  Moses’ humbleness  as he speaks  of God’s almighty holiness  and our sinful weaknesses.      Moses honors God  because the LORD  is from everlasting  to everlasting,  with no beginning  or end  and so holy  in all His ways.     But,  people have very short,  fleeting lives.

Short lives present a problem.     If we want  to spend eternity  in heaven,  we need  to shape up now  and face  the truths  of our lives now  —  before it’s too late.     Humbly realizing that,  Moses prayed  in Psalm 90:12,

So teach us  to number  our days,
That we may present  to You  a heart  of wisdom.

Instead of glibly  frittering every day away  on our worldly desires,  Moses knows  the necessity  of realizing  how very short  our lives are.     Everybody needs  to be wise enough  to draw near  to the LORD  by studying  His word  and learning His ways.     We need  to develop  “a heart  of wisdom”  before we die  in foolishness  —  with our whole lives wasted  and eternal judgment looming.

“A heart of wisdom”  is simply a  “heart”  that realizes  we are weak sinners,  who need  to totally depend  on our Creator Redeemer  to guide us  into right living  and eternal life.     God gives us  His word  to teach  and guide us.     Everything we need  to know  for salvation  is in the Bible.

With humble hearts  of God’s  “wisdom”  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your name  is blessed  as you teach us  Your eternal word.”

Love,
Margaret
