It Is He Who Has Made Us
It Is He Who Has Made Us
People often glorify “successful” people, whether in sports, business, or some other endeavor. Not only do people glorify those who are successful, but the successful are often known to glorify themselves. They point to all their hard work and talents, claiming they are self-made men, who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps. They feel they worked hard for their riches and deserve every bit of it.
Psalm 100 looks at things a bit differently. It says,
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
Know that the LORD Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His faithfulness to all generations.
“It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves.” As created beings, we people all belong to God Almighty. As boastful as we might tend to be, we are merely “the sheep of His pasture”. God is the Almighty — not us. We cannot honestly claim to have made ourselves successful without the LORD’s blessing. We are what we are because “It is He who has made us”. Each of us is gifted differently to God’s praise and glory.
That is why each and every one should “serve the LORD with gladness”, and a good, willing heart. The one who faithfully serves “the LORD with gladness” and a loving heart, in whatever position he is placed, is the one who will be blessed in the end.
Serving where God puts us, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for lovingly and faithfully caring for us as we work to serve You.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
