There Was  the True Light

Sometimes  we seem  to be blind  in one eye  and can’t see  out the other.     We can’t figure out  that 1 + 1 = 2,  so we just  go on muddling  through our own little,  puzzling world.     That’s how it was  when Jesus  was preaching.     John 1:9-13 says,

There was the true Light  which,  coming into the world,  enlightens every man.     He was  in the world,  and the world  was made through Him,  and the world  did not know Him.     He came  to His own,  and those  who were His own  did not receive Him.     But  as many  as received Him,  to them  He gave  the right  to become children  of God,  even  to those  who believe  in His name,  who were born,  not  of blood  nor  of the will  of the flesh  nor  of the will  of man,  but  of God.

Jesus is true God  and true man  —  and He came  to “enlighten every man”  about  God’s salvation  through faith  in Him.     But,  few recognized  that Jesus  really was  the promised Savior.     With all His preaching  and miraculous healings,  Jesus was fulfilling  Old Testament prophecies,  but many in  “the world”  and  “His own”  “did not receive Him”.     They simply  did not believe  that Jesus  was the Savior.

The “Light”  of all His miracles  should have shown them  the way,  but they still  didn’t believe Him.     But,  those who did believe  “were born,  not of blood  nor of the will  of the flesh  nor of the will  of man,  but  of God”  —  and became God’s dearly beloved children.

We ask ourselves,  “Have we seen the true Light?”     Can we see  that Jesus  is the fulfillment  of many Old Testament prophecies?     When we believe  “the true Light”  we  “become children  of God”.     Faith makes us  “children  of God”.

Looking at the evidence  of fulfilled Old Testament prophecies,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for enlightening  our eyes and minds.”

Love,
Margaret
