When  the Wicked  Sprouted Up  Like Grass

Clear around  the world  are daily news reports  of terrorists  killing people  or making attempts  to kill,  and committing other horrendous crimes .     All this is  in a creation  that contains  so many beautiful  and marvelous works  of God.     We have every reason  to be giving thanks  and praise  to the LORD  for His faithful goodness  and salvation.

When the writer  of Psalm 92  praises God  for His lovingkindness  during times  of evil,  he says  in Psalm 92:6-7,

A senseless man  has no knowledge,
Nor does a stupid man  understand this:

That when the wicked  sprouted up  like grass
And all  who did iniquity  flourished,
It was only  that they  might be destroyed  forevermore.

Wicked people  do not understand  that they are condemning themselves  to hell  for all eternity.     Instead,  they boast  of the evil  they commit  and imagine  that God Almighty  does not care  —  or that God even approves  of them.     That’s very  “senseless”  and downright  “stupid”  to say the least.     They have absolutely  no understanding  of God’s truths  and eternal condemnation  of all  that is wicked.

Because they have  “sprouted up  like grass”  all around the world  and  hatefully  make themselves  God’s enemies,  they will surely perish.     But,  all those  who put their trust  in God  will be victorious  in all eternity.     God will make them flourish  eternally.

As we know  God’s loving care  and salvation  through faith  in Christ Jesus,  let us be sure  to continue praising  the LORD  as this psalmist did  —  never forgetting  that God is  in control.

With thankful hearts  for God’s faithful love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for the wondrous blessing  of knowing  Your word  and faithfulness.”

Love,
Margaret
