Pleasure in Wickedness

Pleasure  in Wickedness

It’s amazing  how many  actually take  “pleasure  in wickedness”.     There are reports  of them  in the news  —  and we see them  in our daily lives  —  even in some  we personally know.     What is the ultimate problem?

2 Thessalonians 2  talks about  the “lawlessness”  of the evil one,  who will be revealed  when the Lord comes.     In the evil  of the lawless one,  who is really  of Satan,  many will turn away  from God’s truths,  as they stand  in awe  of the lawless one’s  seeming wonders.    Satan  will create  so many deceptions  of wickedness  that  those who  believe  “the deception  of wickedness”  will  “perish,  because they did not receive  the love  of the truth  so as  to be saved.”     In other words,  they refused  to believe  all the fulfillments  of the prophecies  about the Savior  —  and act accordingly.

Obviously,  we need  to  “receive the love  of the truth”  if we’re honestly concerned  about being  “saved”.     The awesome part is  that the LORD knows  our hearts  and thoughts.     We can’t fake anything  with the LORD.     So,  if we willy-nilly  want  to believe  “all the deception  of wickedness”,  we will  “perish”.     Why?     “They did not receive  the love  of the truth  so as to be saved.”     This information is in 2 Thessalonians 2.

Sadly,  2 Thessalonians 2:11-12  concludes,

For this reason  God will send  upon them  a deluding influence  so that they  will believe  what is false,  in order   that they all  may be judged  who did not believe  the truth,  but took pleasure  in wickedness.

We must sensibly accept  all the evidence  of  “the truth”  presented  in God’s word,  so that we may live  according to it  —  rather than  taking  “pleasure  in wickedness”.     Unbelief leads  to all sorts  of wickedness.     Unbelief  does not accept the promise  of God’s  eternal judgment.     The result  of stubborn unbelief is that  “God will send  upon them  a deluding influence  so that they will believe  what is false.”

We can be our own worst enemy  in challenging God  with unbelief.

Let us rejoice  in God’s proven truths,  saying,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for sustaining us  with Your eternal word.”

Love,
Margaret
