As the Rain  and the Snow  Come Down  From Heaven

We simply don’t think  the way God thinks.     We easily dismiss  what we consider  the little things  in our day-to-day lives.      So it rained today  —  or snowed today  —  so what?     That rain  and snow  is accomplishing God’s purpose  no matter what we think about it.

God wants us  to think about  the seemingly little things  in our lives  and praise Him  for working His ways  —  even when we have no clue  as to what God’s purpose was.     This is even true  for every time  we hear  or share  God’s word.     In Isaiah 55:10-11,  God says,

For as the rain  and the snow  come down  from heaven,
And do not return there  without watering the earth
And making it bear  and sprout,
And furnishing seed  to the sower  and bread  to the eater;

So will My word be  which goes forth  from My mouth;
It will not return  to Me  empty,
Without accomplishing  what I desire,
And without succeeding  in the matter  for which I sent it.

We can think about Jesus’ ministry.     He was often confronted  with the jealousy  and hatred  of the Pharisees,  Sadducees,  and scribes.     Many of them  totally rejected  Jesus’ word  —  but that word  and His actions  affected the lives  of so many other people,  who came  to a true faith  —  and helped  to further spread the gospel.     All-in-all,  Jesus’ preaching was  “accomplishing”  exactly what God desired  —  even though religious leaders rejected it.

The same held true  for the preaching  of many different prophets,  who were tortured and killed  for preaching God’s word.     Down through the ages,  the preaching  of God’s word  has seemed  to be  of little account.     But,  it is “accomplishing”  what God desires  —  even when we don’t realize it.

God  has stated  that “It will not return  to Me empty,  without accomplishing  what I desire,  and without succeeding  in the matter  for which I sent it.”     So,  we let God use our lives  —  one drop  at a time.

Small though we be,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your eternal word  gives life.”

Love,
Margaret
