Even He  Who Cannot Keep  His Soul  Alive

There are so many  on earth,  who proudly persist  in dominating others.     In every level  of life,  those with despising hearts  strive  to control  the lives  of others  to their own benefit.     They may become  “prosperous”  in the process.     But that is  a temporary  illusion.

When Jesus suffered  and died  for us  on the cross,  it seemed  like the ultimate defeat.     But,  it wasn’t.     In Psalm 22,  as the mockery  of Jesus’ death  is prophesied,  it seemed  as if  Jesus  was defeated,  but verse 29 prophesies,

All the prosperous  of the earth  will eat  and worship,
All those  who go down  to the dust  will bow before Him,
Even he  who cannot keep  his soul alive.

The prosperous  of the earth”  think  they have every good thing  this life  has to offer  —  and that  they don’t need God.     But,  at the end  of their life,  they will  “worship”  because they will see  that the LORD  is God  over all  —  no matter what  they believed  during their lifetime.      Everyone   who goes  “down  to the dust”  —  who dies  in unbelief  —  “will bow  before Him”.     They will “bow”  in their eternal destruction.

So,  Psalm 22:29  emphasizes,  “Even he  who cannot keep  his soul alive”.     The souls  of all believers  go straight   to heaven  —  as our LORD keeps us  “alive”  with Him  immediately.     But,  the souls  of unbelievers  go down  to eternal destruction  —  and they cannot do anything  to keep their  “soul alive”.

After one dies,  it is too late  to start living  for Christ.     Only God  can keep the souls   of believers “alive”  to be resurrected  with our bodies  on His day.     The bottom line is  that we need  to put our faith  in Jesus now  because He is LORD of lords  and God of gods.

Seeing that,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for saving our souls.”

Love,
Margaret
