Love Is Not Arrogant
Love Is Not Arrogant
People will claim that they love a person, their country, certain ideals, God, etc., but their “love” shows arrogance in their attitude, speech, and actions. 1 Corinthians 13:4 tells us,
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant……
When James talks about those who arrogantly brag about what they are going to do in the future, he reminds us that absolutely no one knows what their future holds. That is why we should all humbly acknowledge that the LORD guides our future. We need to bow to God’s will. So, James 4:16 sadly says,
But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.
God’s word speaks of arrogance many times in all sorts of situations. A few examples could include:
Boast no more so very proudly,
Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth;
For the LORD is a God of knowledge,
And with Him actions are weighed. 1 Samuel 2:3
They pour forth words, they speak arrogantly;
All who do wickedness vaunt themselves. Psalm 94:4
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverted mouth, I hate. Proverbs 8:13
Thus I will punish the world for its evil
And the wicked for their iniquity;
I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud
And abase the haughtiness of the ruthless. Isaiah 13:11
… following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage. Jude 1:16
In every life situation, we are to guard against our own tendency to become arrogant — and to be on guard against those who arrogantly want to gain an advantage over us for their own pride’s sake. We need to check attitudes and actions with God’s word.
Keeping God’s word in mind, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, guide us by Your word.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
