If You Continue  in My Word

Jesus taught us  many things  to help us  through this life.     Because we need  all the help  we can get,  it’s a good idea  to follow His instructions.     We read  in John 8:31-32,

So,  Jesus  was saying  to those Jews  who had believed Him,  “If you continue  in My word,  then you are truly disciples  of Mine;  and you will know  the truth,  and the truth  will make  you free.”

The Bible often reminds us  that God’s word  is eternal.     It’s  the one thing  in this world  that we can depend on  to guide us  in God’s truths.     This is so important these days  because  there are so many false teachers  and preachers  misleading people  into all sorts  of false doctrines.

How can they do it?     How can they bamboozle  so many people  and keep them  as followers?

They keep their followers busy  studying their literature,  so that there is  no time  to study God’s word.     The people simply don’t have enough time  in the day  to learn God’s truths.     Consequently,  they are not free,  or even interested  in the way that God wants us  to be free.

God wants us  to be free  in knowing the difference  between His truths  and the lies  of this world  —  to know the difference between good  and evil  —  to know the value  of God’s ways  —  to know the joy  of the truth  —  to have a song  in our heart  —  to just plain ol’  be free  from the burdens  of our sinful ways.

The only way  to get an honest gist  of what God wants us  to know  is to daily  study His word  and put it  into action.     God has not changed His precepts  over time,  whereas  false teachers  are constantly “updating”  their teachings  to be politically correct.

Loving the peace  of God’s faithfulness,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You for not changing.”

Love,
Margaret
