Seven Abominations  in His Heart

With all the scams going on  through the Internet,  politics,  robo phone calls,  door-to-door “salesmen”,  etc., etc.,  one can get to feeling  rather badgered.     Those are times  when we think  of things  like Proverbs 26:24-25,

He  who hates  disguises it  with his lips,
But he lays up deceit  in his heart.

When he speaks graciously,  do not believe him,
For there are seven abominations  in his heart.

All the different scammers  deceitfully pretend  to be oh so gracious,  kind,  and helpful.     But,  deep down  “there are seven abominations  in his heart.     They have no love  or respect  for the people  they want to scam.     They don’t care  if they scam the elderly,  the disabled,  the sick,  or the poor.     Money and power are all they care about.     But,  their  “seven abominations”  will land them  in eternal destruction.

But,  the Christian life  is totally opposite.     In spite  of the fact  that we realize  we,  too,  are sinners,  we strive  to live  to God’s glory.     We don’t want  to live  in the muck  of this sin-ridden world  because our Savior  is called,  “The LORD  our righteousness”.     ( Jeremiah 23:6 )     God Almighty  makes us righteous  through faith  in Jesus.

On top  of that  2 Corinthians 5:14-15  explains,

For the love  of Christ  controls us,  having concluded this,  that one died  for all,  therefore  all died;  and He died  for all,  so that they  who live  might no longer live  for themselves,  but for Him  who died  and rose again  on their behalf.

This is why  we find  our joy  in living  according to God’s ways.     God’s love  has real meaning  to us.     We don’t want  to mindlessly follow worthless lusts.     God’s love  in Christ  is so much more satisfying.     It’s our complete happiness  and total satisfaction.

Satisfied  in saving love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD Jesus,  thank You  for becoming a part  of our lives.”

Love,
Margaret
