What  I Have  Entrusted  to Him

To totally  entrust something  of great value  to someone else  is a really big deal  in our lives.     Our very lives  may hinge  on it.     Are we willing  to risk it?     Just how do we feel  about it?     Do we have inner fears,  anxieties,  and doubts?

Everything depends  on the trustworthiness  of the one  being entrusted.     We need  to know them well  —  know their character,  strength,  ability,  care  —  and most importantly,  their love  for us.

That’s how life was  for Paul.     He had been a staunch Jew,  and then came  to faith  in Jesus.     He entrusted  his whole well-being  and eternal life  into Jesus’ hands.     All that  in the face  of what God said  in Acts 9:15-16,

… he is a chosen instrument  of Mine,  to bear  My name  before the Gentiles  and kings  and the sons  of Israel;  for I will show him  how much  he must suffer  for My name’s sake.

God determined ahead  of time  what Paul needed  to “suffer”  for God’s sake  in bringing the gospel  to all sorts  of people  —  and Paul was well aware  of what was  in store.     Because Paul knew  that God Almighty  appointed him  to serve by preaching and teaching,  Paul willingly  put himself  in God’s care,  saying in 2 Timothy 1:12,

For this reason  I also suffer  these things,  but I am not ashamed;  for I know  whom I have believed  and I am convinced  that He  is able  to guard  what I have entrusted  to Him  until that day.

Do we know in whom we  “have believed”?     Are we  convinced  that He is able  to guard  what I have entrusted  to Him  until that day”?

We look at all  that God has done  in creation  and throughout history.     He is trustworthy.     So,  we entrust Him  to keep our souls  “until that day”.

Rejoicing  in our Savior’s trustworthiness,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for guarding  our lives.”

Love,
Margaret
