By Your Words  You Will  Be Condemned

With the Internet  and all sorts  of other media,  people are loving  to gain attention  by saying  all sorts  of outlandish things.     They cuss,  lie,  slander,  and spew forth  all sorts  of filthy language.     It seems they imagine  that their ugly words make them powerful and authoritative.

But,  Jesus challenges every one  of us  in Matthew 12:33-37,

Either  make the tree good  and its fruit good,   or make the tree bad  and its fruit bad;  for the tree is known  by its fruit.

You brood  of vipers,  how can you,  being evil,  speak  what is good?     For the mouth  speaks out  of that  which fills  the heart.     The good man  brings out  of his good treasure  what is good;  and the evil man  brings out  of his evil treasure  what is evil.

But I tell you  that every careless word  that people speak,  they shall give  an accounting for it  in the day  of judgment.     For by your words  you will be justified,  and by your words  you will be condemned.

We can make  our life’s influence “good”  by allowing our lives  to be influenced  by God’s eternal truths.     Or,  we can make our life’s influence “bad”  by allowing the evils  of this world  to poison  our minds  and hearts.     Jesus pointed out, For the mouth  speaks out  of that  which fills  the heart.     What fills our hearts?

We can’t afford  to let evil  rule our hearts  and minds.     It will make us  more and more evil  over time,  with filthy language  of every kind.     We will pay  for our unrepentant evils  throughout eternity  —  “by your words  you will be condemned”.     Whatever our status  and position  in this earthly life,  we need  to gather  “good treasure”  in our hearts.     Otherwise,  eternal condemnation  will be ours.

Ever so glad  for the “good treasure”  Jesus saves  in our hearts,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for giving us  good treasures  in Your eternal word.”

Love,
Margaret
