Let Him  Ask of God

Many people want  to know  God’s word  better.     That’s wonderful.     And…  that’s how absolutely everyone  should be.     But,  they might feel a bit lost  and hunger  for even more  than what they have learned  thus far.     James 1:5  has a word  for their desire  to learn more,

But  if any  of you lacks wisdom,  let him ask  of God,  who gives  to all generously  and without reproach,  and it will be given  to him.

God never criticizes us  for our lack  of knowledge  and desire  to learn more.     Actually,  He loves us  for wanting  to learn more  about His word  and “gives to all generously  and without reproach”.     All He tells us is,  “Let him ask  of God”.     God wants us  to go straight  to Him  in His word  —  the Bible  —  and He will lead us  in His  “wisdom”,  which tells us the story  of His love  and salvation  through Christ Jesus,  who is the fulfillment  of many Old Testament prophecies  made over thousands  of years.     God’s wisdom includes  HEART  KNOWLEDGE  —  not just head knowledge.

So,  we need  to constantly study  God’s word  to us  in the Bible  and pray  to our LORD  for the right understanding.     This will take a lot  of time  —  but it will be a time  of fellowship  with our Creator Redeemer.

When Acts 17:11-12 talks about the wonderful,  new Christians  at Berea,  it says,

……. they received the word  with great eagerness,  examining the Scriptures daily  to see whether these things were so.     Therefore, many of them  believed…….

Those who diligently  and sincerely  study God’s word  “to see whether these things  were so”  are rewarded  by God  with a true faith  —  Therefore,  many of them believed”.

God’s word is open  to all of us.     So,  in our desire  for “wisdom”  in God’s word,  let us  “ask of God”.     This is a life-long endeavor,  so let us enjoy it  day by day.

With the joy  of seeing God’s love  for us  in Christ Jesus,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for giving Your word to us  for our eternal salvation.”

Love,
Margaret
