All the Wealth  That Comes

Many feel that  “wealth”  is tons of money  and world power  over others.     God teaches us  very differently.     In Colossians 2:2-4,  Paul prayed  for the people,

…that their hearts  may be encouraged,  having been knit together  in love,  and attaining  to all the wealth  that comes  from the full assurance  of understanding,  resulting  in a true knowledge  of God’s mystery,  that is,  Christ Himself,  in whom  are hidden  all the treasures  of wisdom  and knowledge.     I say this  so that  no one  will delude you  with persuasive argument.

Paul is showing us  that when we have faith  to “love”  the LORD  our God,  we attain  all the wealth  that comes  from the full assurance  of understanding”.     That is  that we come  to know  that in  “Christ Himself”  we can have  “all the treasures  of wisdom  and knowledge”.

The very greatest treasure  we can have is God’s  “wisdom  and knowledge”.     That means  we fully realize  and accept  God’s “wisdom”  in having Jesus Christ  suffer  and die  to absolutely  fully pay  the penalty  for all our sins.     So,  our treasure is  a true faith  that makes us  a true child  of God,  who will inherit  a wondrous home  in heaven  for all eternity.     There is where  we will enjoy  the blessings  of being  with our heavenly Father  and Savior.

Those on earth  who despise  God’s  “treasures  of wisdom  and knowledge”,  scrounge  for all the money  they can get.     They think earthly “wealth”  will give them power.     They are like the magician,  Simon,  who thought he could buy  the Holy Spirit’s power  to do miracles.     (Acts 8:9-24)     Peter told him  in Acts 8:20,

May your silver perish  with you,  because you thought  you could obtain  the gift  of God  with money!

We cannot afford  to let anyone  “delude you  with persuasive argument”,  in imagining money  and worldly power  will save us  on Judgment Day.     We need the “wisdom”  of putting our faith  in the blood  of Jesus Christ.

Then,  in peace,  we will say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for freeing us  from this world.”

Love,
Margaret
