You Love Evil  More Than Good

During Jesus’ trial  and crucifixion,  the religious  and political leaders  were shown  to “love evil  more than good”.     They all knew  that Jesus was innocent.     But,  they used false witnesses  to make false claims  —  and even their so-called witnesses  could not agree.

The evil  in their hearts  was not different  from one  of King David’s experiences.    King Saul was wanting  to kill David,  who was  in hiding.     Then,  a nasty,  boastful Edomite soldier  told King Saul  that David had been  to a priest’s house.    King Saul then had the priest  and his family  killed.     David was devastated  and wrote  about the Edomite soldier  in Psalm 52:3,

You love evil  more than good,
Falsehood  more than speaking what is right.

All those  who condemned Jesus  also loved  “evil  more than good”.     But,  what about the hearts  of the people today?     There are so many preachers  who preach  all sorts  of falsehoods,  and yet claim  to be upstanding Christians.     But,  the people are loving  those false preachers  and following them,  instead of sticking  to the truths  in the Bible  and loving Christ Jesus.     The people are not loving God enough  to open up  their Bibles  and learn God’s truths.

It’s all  like a repeat  of what was happening  in the days  of the prophet Jeremiah.     Jeremiah 5:31  records,

The prophets  prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule  on their own authority;
And My people love it so!
But  what will you do  at the end  of it?

The same can be asked  of everyone today.     Are we loving  “evil  more than good”?     Is the false testimony  of false preachers  more pleasing  to us  than God’s truths  in the Bible?     Are we ashamed  of Jesus  for any reason?     We need  to think about  what Jeremiah asked above,  “But  what will you do  at the end  of it?”     Come Judgment Day,  what will we do?

Loving Jesus  because He first loved us,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for loving us  and paying the penalty  for our sins.”

Love,
Margaret
