The LORD  Takes Pleasure

Psalm 147:11

The LORD takes pleasure  in those  who fear Him,
Who look  for His grace.

The LORD God  made every single one  of us.     We can’t even take a breath  without His allowing it.     God  is in control  of everything  that happens  to us — and He allows  challenges  and temptations  of all sorts  to come  our way.     The challenges  and temptations  are the results  of sin  throughout the world  —  including our very own sins  and weaknesses.     Thus,  we often create many  of our own problems.

As we face  our sins  and the sins  of the world,  we need  to realize  that we are not strong enough  to overcome sin  all by ourselves.     We are simply unable  to imagine  the future results  of our sinful natures,  so we proudly  and blithely forge ahead,  hoping  for the best  —  done in our sinfulness.     With such independence  and disregard  of our heavenly Father’s offer  to guide  and keep us,  we soon fall  into trouble.     It’s discouraging.

Seeing our dilemma,  God has a really big heart  for helping us  in every trouble.     But,  He wants us  to “want” His help.     He is not going  to force Himself  upon us  —  even though He is deeply longing  to help  and is constantly extending  His open hands  in an offer  to help.     God is constantly saddened  by the majority  of people,  who refuse  His help.     They don’t pray.     They don’t honor God  in any way.     They refuse  to acknowledge  that He alone  is the Almighty Creator  and Redeemer,  who has the power  to forgive their sins  and heal  their troubled hearts.

What a world!     They know  “about” God,  but refuse  to go to Him  for help.     They prefer  to try  to show their own strength  in solving their problems  —  as if they are stronger  than their Creator.     It’s all so sad.

Nevertheless,  there are the few  who do rely  on the LORD  for deliverance  from all their sins,  temptations,  and troubles.     Even though  there are comparatively few  who turn  to God  for help,  God greatly delights  in them  —  just because  they recognize Him  as LORD  and God  over all things  —  i.e.,  realize  and accept  the truth.     These few  have respect  for God  because they realize  how all  of God’s word  has come true  in Jesus Christ.     Because these few see  how powerful,  faithful,  and loving God is  in fulfilling all  of His prophecies,  they look  to God  in prayer,  asking for His mercy  in their personal trials.

God loves it  when people  accept truth.

We need  to let God  take pleasure  in us  by fearing  (respecting)  Him  and looking  for His grace  in prayer  and faith.     He’s waiting  for us  to want His Fatherly help.

As we walk  with our Lord,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Abba!     Father!     We praise  and thank You  for being  so patient  and faithful  in inviting us  to live  with You.     Let us always  be near You.”

Love,
Margaret
