Before Moses died, he gave blessings for each of the twelve tribes of Israel in Deuteronomy 33. Regarding the tribe of Asher, Moses says in Deuteronomy 33:27,
The eternal God is a dwelling place,
And underneath are the everlasting arms.
The promises of God are for all of His children down through the ages. Because the LORD is God over all things forever, these are words with which we, too, can take comfort. Similar promises of God’s faithfulness are found throughout the Bible.
No matter what we have to face in life, no matter how much it hurts, no matter how desperate we feel, “underneath are the everlasting arms”. God is there to carry us through whatever happens in this life. Most surely, in everything that happens, we have God’s promise in Isaiah 43:1-3,
But now, thus says the LORD, your creator, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel,
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name; you are Mine!
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.
For I am the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
These are the words of God Almighty, in whose “everlasting arms” we are secure. We need to note that in Deuteronomy 33:27, Moses did remind us that, “The eternal God is a dwelling place.” In God is the place where we need to be living. This earth is not our home. When we live “in God”, only then are we at home, because He alone is our Creator and Redeemer.
To live “in God” means putting our faith in Him, trusting His ways of doing things in our lives, and looking to Him for all our needed help. When we live “in God”, then He will surely protect us and show us the way. It’s as Psalm 91:1 says,
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
Let us live with our Lord, so that we will be under His protection — safe in His “everlasting arms”. Then in the joy of God’s love for us, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, You alone are the Almighty. All things are in Your hands, for You are our Shepherd and our King.”
A Christian devotional to glorify the LORD of lords and GOD of gods.
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
