The Strength of His Might

The Strength  of His Might

It seems like  we want  to be such strong people  in the eyes  of others.     Admitting  our weaknesses  is embarrassing.     But,  no matter  who we are,  we are all  just humans  —  vulnerable to sin,  physical ailments,  failures,  and just doing dumb things  that don’t make sense.     We never will be  without weaknesses  in this world.

In all our striving  in this world,  it is unwise  to depend  on our own strength,  wisdom,  or other abilities.     We will fail  in the long run  —  that is  throughout eternity  —  if we only look  to ourselves  for all our strength  and leading.

Where can we  get  the right kind  of help?     There really isn’t anybody else  one can honestly  depend on  for all the strength,  wisdom,  and common sense  that is needed  for this life.     Everyone else  has plenty  of their own foibles.     In Ephesians 6:10-12,  Paul shows us  where we can get  true strength  and wisdom.

Finally,  be strong  in the Lord,  and in the strength  of His might.     Put on the full armor  of God,  that you may  be able  to stand firm  against the schemes  of the devil.

For our struggle  is not against  flesh and blood,  but against the rulers,  against the powers,  against the world forces  of this darkness,  against the spiritual forces  of wickedness  in the heavenly places.

The strength  and common sense  we need,  in order  to get  through this world,  are found only  in the Lord.     In our humanity,  we might  see our goal  as being successful  at our job.     But,  as we are striving  for just that,  we will come up against  all sorts  of temptations  and challenges  that will lead us away  from a true faith  in the Lord God Almighty.

So,  while we might imagine  we’re having success  in our job,  all by ourselves,  in actuality,  the devil  has side-winded us,  and we’ve fallen  into all sorts  of sins  —  because we’re depending  on our own strength  and wisdom.     On our own,  we are failures  —  and we don’t even know it.

We need  to realize  what we are really struggling with.

Every day  of our lives,  we are really dealing  with all the problems  the devil throws  in our way.     That is why  it is absolutely vital  that we always  “be strong  in the Lord,  and in the strength  of His might.”     It is unsafe  to try  to do anything  in our own strength.     God wants us  to look  to Him.     We need  to look  to Him.

Whatever kinds  of desires  and goals  we have,  let us always go  to the Lord  and let Him  be our guide  for living.     The Bible shows us  God’s way  for living.     It is the best  field manual  we can ever have.     When we are using  God’s word  and prayer,  while putting our faith  in our Savior,  the Lord will  lead us  in His strength  and wisdom.

Then  we will say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  You made  all things  and have saved us  through Jesus Christ.     Your wisdom  and strength  are so right  and good.”

Love,
Margaret
