To Bully,  Taunt  and Demoralize

When morally corrupt people  want  to grab power  and wealth  for themselves,  they will bully,  taunt  and demoralize  those they want  to defeat  and overcome.     They will boldly try  to deceive others  into imagining  that they are  more right  in their goals  because they are perceived  as the strong  and capable ones — the winners  in life.

God’s children might feel devastated  as they are constantly demoralized  into feeling  like losers  —  unloved by their God.     That is  what was happening  in Israel’s time  of exile,  when the psalmist wrote  in Psalm 42:10,

As a shattering  of my bones,  my adversaries  revile me,
While they say  to me  all day long,  “Where is  your God?

Note that the bully’s  taunting is  “all day long”  —  day after day.     And,  the bully questions  the existence  of their God  —  suggesting  their stupidity  for believing  in such a God.     The constant taunts feel like  “a shattering  of my bones”.

Jesus taught His followers  that the world  would hate them  —  just as  the world hated Him.     We are  to expect  that the world will make fun  of our God  and try to demoralize us  into unbelief.     As Jesus said these things  in John 15,  He specifically said  in John 15:21,

But  all these things  they will do  to you  for My name’s sake,  because they do not know  the One  who sent Me.

They are actually unbelievers  —  even as they might try  to deceive others  into thinking they are believers.     Their actions prove them otherwise.     Hosea 7:2 says about such people,

And they  do not consider  in their hearts
That I remember  all their wickedness.
Now their deeds are  all around them;
They are before My face.

God Almighty knows  and cares  for His children  —  and He will surely judge  all the wicked  in His good time.     God’s children are  to always look  to Him  in faith,  knowing  that He is in full control  of all things  at all times.

Trusting  in our Savior’s care,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for being with us  as we face  our trials  in this world.”

Love,
Margaret
