Authority  to Cast  into Hell

Fear is an instinctive reaction  and can serve us well  in some circumstances.     For instance,  when driving down the freeway,  if we discover  that we have wandered  into another lane,  fear will get our attention  and make us get back  into our lane.

Sometimes we are afraid  when we shouldn’t be  and it causes us  to act inappropriately.     Some Christians fear  not being politically correct  at all times  and will make out  like certain things are okay,  even though they know  God does not approve  of that behavior.     Jesus taught the people  about the wrong kind of fear in Luke 12:4-9,

And I say to you,   My friends,  do not be afraid  of those who kill  the body,  and after that  have no more  that they can do.     But I will warn you  whom to fear:  fear the One who  after He has killed  has authority  to cast into hell;  yes,  I tell you,  fear Him!

Are not five sparrows sold  for two cents?     And yet not one of them  is forgotten  before God.     Indeed  the very hairs  of your head  are all numbered.     Do not fear;  you are  of more value  than many sparrows.

And I say to you,  everyone who confesses Me  before men,  the Son of Man  shall confess him also  before the angels  of God;  but  he who denies Me  before men  shall be denied  before the angels  of God.

Worldly minded people  will try  to force everyone  to be politically correct  according to their standards.     In their hatred  of the Lord  and His truths,  they will do everything  in their power  to make a Christian  renounce Jesus.     Their snide remarks,  sneers,  mocking head shakes,  looks of disgust,  denial of promotions — and,  in some places,  torture  and death — can all cause a Christian  to experience fear.

In fear  of whatever is  in the imagination,  a Christian sometimes chooses  to silently go  with the flow  of the world.     But,  in going  with the flow,  he is denying the LORD  of lords, “who  after He has killed  has authority  to cast  into hell.”     So, what are we  more afraid of?    We need  to face the truth  of the matter.

Nothing  one has to experience  on this earth  is worth denying  our Savior  and ending up  in hell.     Facing the truth  is vital.     All those  who have been martyred  for keeping the faith  are now  in the presence  of God.     They will never experience  any more pain  or sorrow.      Whatever sort  of rejection  and pains  we endure  on earth  are only temporary,  so we don’t need  to fear them.     But,  hell is eternal.

In consideration of truth,  let us strongly confess Jesus  as Lord  before everyone,  so that Jesus  can have  the joy  of confessing us  before the angels  of God  through all eternity.

There is freedom  in standing up  for the truth.

As we confidently walk  in the eternal truths  of God’s word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord, You have proven Your truths  by keeping Your promises  of a Savior.     Let us always remember  our infinite worth  in Your heart  and that Your love  will preserve us eternally  in every circumstance.”

A Christian devotional  to glorify  the LORD of lords  and GOD of gods.

Pray for our country.
